ECCC Comic Passport

The Emerald City Comic Con Comic Passport is a program that grew out of a community need for the ECCC fan base. ECCC’s growth makes it impossible to maintain a retailer ticket program for fans, so instead we’re encouraging fans to visit local comic shops and get their passport stamped for a chance to win tickets to the show.

In year one we contacted 13 individual stores within a small radius of Seattle (using our benchmark as the convention center where we hold the show). We had approximately 80 entries under the hashtag #ECCCPassport on instagram, and had people redeeming their exclusive prize for completing the program at the show’s info booth. Year two we expanded the program to include stores down through to Portland, OR and has a total of 21 stores.

This program has been well received among fans of ECCC, comics and shopping local to support comic shops in their area. We also had great engagement from the participating shops, going around and completing the passport themselves and supporting their neighboring stores. This was also a success for the ECCC team creating an activity for fans to engage in outside of our 4-day show, keeping our community active and excited about comics and their local culture.
