I got the idea for Emerald City Comic Con’s Artist in Residence program from our fan base requesting a small show feel from a big show, to remember our roots. ECCC started out as a hometown comic show, and to bring back that feeling I wanted to use our platform (instagram) to highlight local artists to celebrate what they’re contributing to the community.

Each Artist gets to takeover the ECCC instagram for an entire week, sharing their backstory on what they work on, what they like to do, what inspires them and what our fans could hope to see at ECCC this year. The program has been successful, encouraging fans to discover new artists and say hello to them at the show.
